Day 1
Early pick-up for a full day’s private touring through some of our most scenic and unique outback vistas including Gladstone, Wirrabara and the historic little “settlement” of Melrose at the base of Mount Remarkable with a short town tour and followed by a classic country lunch.
We continue onto Quorn, home of the famous Pichi Richi Railway and end a full day with an afternoon tour on private land. This diverse property has many changes of landscape at each turn, not to mention the abundance of wildlife roaming within, including kangaroos, euros and wedge-tailed eagles, plus a resident colony of endangered Yellow Footed Rock Wallabies. Overnight accommodation is at a beautiful 4 star Bed and Breakfast with classic “outback” vistas from most vantage points.
Day 2
We start the day with a Wallaby watch and short walk at scenic Warren Gorge, a photographer’s delight in the morning sun! Push on via Yourambulla Caves Aboriginal site, historic Kanyaja Homestead Ruins and visit an Outback gallery, time permitting.
Onto Wilpena Pound for a healthy picnic lunch, complete with Australian wine, plus a souvenir opportunity at the adjacent Visitors Centre.
The afternoon is spent in our famous Flinders Ranges National Park where you are treated to a relaxing 4WD tour of Bunyeroo and Brachina Gorges, with plenty of unique wildlife photo opportunities. Here you will experience the true beauty of this amazing Outback region.
As this is a very flexible itinerary, you can choose from a classic “Aussie b.b.q” experience or Hotel meal – subject to time.
Day 3
Now for something completely different – to finish off your Outback Outlook, we offer a 2 hour Eco cruise to the tip of Spencer Gulf where you can see our friendly resident dolphin family on most days, plus an abundance of water bird species and various other historic points of interest on this unique outing not to be missed.
This is followed by an easy walk around the Aridlands Botanic Gardens before we commence our return to Adelaide, with a seaside stop for a delicious fresh local fish and chips lunch. This comfortable drive will terminate in Adelaide at approximately 4 p.m.
